Finally finished painted my 28mm Wild West buildings which includes a Barber, Saloon, Undertaker, Post office, Dentist, Church, Bank, Sheriff, Gunsmith, General Store and a coal mine. I was aiming to have the building look bright but weathered by the harsh wasteland climate.

DeleteJohn these look excellent. Really love the worn battered look. By far the best Wild West town I have seen yet... very wild! Just wondering - is there's any GOLD left in that mine. Looking forward to more pic's on your battle mat. Reminds me of the 1970's Timpo town - but shrunk to 28mm and left out in the weather since 1970...LOL. I wish I had the space. Really nice job. Outstanding.

ReplyDeleteI hope to be retiring in the next few months and will be doing my own town. So a few questions if you'll allow. Did you have a method you followed in their construction? Standard blueprints? Lessons learned? Things you wish you had thought of ? Any glue you'd recommend as best to use? By the same token, any to avoid?
Your painting and weathering is very effective. Thin wash and splotch paint on top of that?
The top-down roof off looks like you've gone with thin wood walls. Or am I mistaken? The planking must be done by scribing the wall to give the appearance of separate planks. Did you try any where you used wood strips / coffee stir sticks, thick cardstock and glued them to the wall backing?
Any problem with the removable roofs?
How did you do your basing?
