WILD WEST SCRATCH BUILT BUILDINGS Part 1

The start of my 28mm wild west buildings, all are scratched built using 3mm MDF and a variety of different sized matches.

A search on the web provided the inspiration for the buildings, a nice change from building European buildings.

The buildings include a Saloon, Dental surgery, Undertakers building, Grocery store, Sheriffs building with jail, Bank, Church, Postal office and a mine. 

The majority of the roofs are either Tar sheeted or shingle roofs. The roofs with tar sheets are made from black cardboard paper secured in place with PVA glue. The shingle roofs are made from thin cardboard sheets cut into small squares over lapping each other, again secured in place with PVA glue.

I used a thin bladed hand saw and box cutters to cut the MDF and used a tube of liquid nails to bond them together.

The window frames are made from small match sticks.

SALOON 

A layer of PVA glue is spread on the ground level of the building and grit is added.

UNDERTAKER

I wanted the Undertakers building to be a bit run down reflecting a drop in business but now What a Cowboy has hit the gaming scene the Undertaker expects business will be booming.

The coffin is made from cardboard

The jail bars are made from tooth picks

Forgot to add the frame work for the window, will have to correct that.

DENTIST

I carved the molar tooth with some Milliput.

BANK

The Post office was the first building I constructed.

MINE

The hill side is made from a dense piece of styrene foam base on MDF with small grit added with PVA glue.

The mine cart is made with balsa wood and matches were used to construct the rail line.

Onto the painting stage.

EARLY IMPERIAL ROMAN AUXILIARY ARCHERS AND BALEANIC SLINGERS 28mm

Starting to slowly put together forces for Infamy Infamy, after looking at all the different manufactures' miniatures for this period I decided to go with Victrix miniatures.

Lovely models with plenty of  crisp detail, great for painting. They are plastic and need to be assembled with the help of some plastic glue. The Victrix site has some great images for reference, which does help with selecting colours for the forces.

The Early Imperial Roman arches have been painted with a bit of variety in the colour of the tunics and pants. I also attached a thread to the bows to give them a more realistic look.

The Baleanic Slingers tunic have been painted with a slight variation in colour and are a bit more gritty.

All the figures are bases on metal with the groups base also made of metal with tiny magnets superglued and surface texture added with a thin coat of Milluput.

Its been a great experience painting a different period of troops in History, at the moment I am assembling some Early Imperial Roman Auxiliary Cavalry to paint.

WHAT A COWBOY DICE

Seems all the talk and excitement has been focused on the recent release of What a Cowboy. I must admit I have also got the bug for WAC,I am looking forward to some fun games with WAC.

My first introduction to WAC was at the Lard Zone here at Cancon 2023 with Frank and his crew hosting the WAC event. 

Upon returning home, I decided to make my own dice for WAC after noting what dice where used for the game. I order 12mm and 16mm dice blank white dice from ebay and painted the images on the dice by hand using Vallejo model colour paints. I first painting the image silhouette with Vallejo black primer and then adding the colours. I sealed the painted surface with a couple of coats of Tamiya enamel clear gloss. 

I ordered and received the rule book along with the cards couple of days ago, in the mean time, to get inspired, I have started to scan the web for images of Wild West buildings to build and have started this week with my first 28mm building (Grocery store).
