I decided to go with Perry Miniatures 28mm AWI metal figure for my FIW Colonial Militia. I painted them in a variety of colours and adjusted some the hats to purposely make them look like a rag tail bunch of men.
Next project is my French Marines and Coureures de Bois
CHEERS JOHN
John, that would be Perry AWI militia not ACW?
ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting to see which figures you use/convert for you next part of the project.
Nice work anyway 👍
Thanks Graham for spotting that, have correct it and thanks for the comments

Love those colour choices John, I have some of those figures lurking in a box somewhere. I'm (almost) inspired to dig them out.
ReplyDeleteI particularly like that faded red coat you have in the 5th & 6th pictures. I really struggle to do a good faded red, it always ends up pink or orange. May I ask how you did that colour?
Thanks Doug for the comments, no worries I start with Vallejo Model color Flat Red mixed with a small amount of VMC black grey as a base, then start to highlight by adding a bit of red to the mix, continue highlighting by adding more red , I then do some light highlights by adding VMC stone grey to the mix in small portions. I finish off by brushing VMC flat earth on the edges and the elbows to dirty up the coat. hope this helps

Thanks John, that's really helpful, and as I have Those Vallejo colours, I shall give it a try.
